A.B. Dutch Shows, 92 of Odessa passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Hospice House. He was born on January 8, 1916 to T.P. and Mattie Boyd Shows in Jonesboro, Louisiana. He married Cora Bell Brown, his wife of 60 years on March 24, 1948.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a survivor of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, where he received many honors including the Purple Heart. Dutch worked for the City of Odessa Fire Department and retired after 32 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Cora Bell, daughters; Debra Shows, Donna Flood and son-in-law Eddie Flood, grandsons; Trevor Ray and Brandon Ray, niece; Pauline Gage, great-niece; Paulette Waggner and her husband John all of Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Private graveside services were held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
