Alice Deras, 73 years of age, of Odessa, Texas passed away on November 14, comfortably at her home in Odessa.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00pm on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home (6801 E. Business 20, Odessa, TX 79762).
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Garden & Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert J. Pase of Grace Lutheran Church in Midland officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Alice was born in Monahans, Texas to the parents of Manuel and Ester Deanda on August 5th 1943. She went to school in Monahans. In 1965, she moved to Odessa to attend Odessa Junior College and then the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and subsequently completed her major in education. She was married to Saul Deras on June 20th 1965 in Odessa, Texas and had recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. She retired as a teacher after 32 years of teaching. After retirement from teaching, she continued to work in the family business in the administration office at Gasket Service. She was actively involved in her church by service and performing in the bells programs, volunteered at Meals On Wheels, participated in the Red Hat Society, helped organize math programs at Reagan Magnet Elementary school, and was an active member of the Odessa Country Club Women's Association.
She is survived by her husband, Saul Deras; her son, Richard; her daughter, Sandra Adair; son-in-law, Ryan Adair; brother, Sonny Deanda and his wife Dorothy; grandchildren, Logan and Alex Deras; Shari Adam (niece), Steve Deanda (nephew); caregivers, Lori Carrillo and Deneen Dominguiz; Trayce Moore, David Deanda, Sunni Greenhalgh and Blake Smith (grand-nieces and grand-nephews).

The family wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to Lori Castillo (caregiver), Deneen Dominguiz (caregiver), Texas Tech University Health and Science Center, the University of California at San Francisco, and UT Southwestern in Dallas specifically for their ongoing effort to find a cure for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). In addition, a special thanks to the continued support of Michelle Allen (friend), Barbara Browning (friend), Yvonne Cadra, Sonny and Dorothy Deanda in Alice's final days.
