Alice Glenn

July 11, 1929 — December 27, 2017

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10. Alice Rowan Glenn, 88, of Odessa, Texas answered the call of her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2017.
Alice was born in Haskell County, Texas to Thomas Louis Rowan, and Evelyn Elizabeth Colvin on July 11, 1929. She graduated from Rule High School in 1946, and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1952 with a BS in Home Economics. Alice taught for two years in Muleshoe, TX. She married the love of her life and best friend Grady Arnold Glenn on June 28, in 1953 at College Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas.
They moved to Odessa, TX along with their daughter Patti. As time went on, they expanded their family to include Kay and Risa. Alice became a homemaker and spent many hours sewing special outfits for each one of them. They were in high school before they got "store bought" clothes. [[][[]]She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple Proverbs 31:22]. Volunteering was one of her passions as Alice taught a sewing class at the Sewing Center in South Odessa. When her daughters were very little, she was the local neighborhood March of Dimes representative. She was very active in her church with Women's Missionary Union, and also with the Girl's in Action while her daughters were young. She chose to volunteer with ECISD in the special education department out of love for her granddaughter Emily, and received a 15 year pin for her dedication. The love for giving in her community also led Alice and her husband Grady to deliver for Meals On Wheels for 10 years. As she was always on the lookout for another place to serve, she found her niche at a local nursing home teaching a Sunday school class and serving juice to the residents. [[][[]]She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Proverbs 31:20]
Alice is a hero in her own right as she is a survivor. She beat breast cancer twice over a span of 44 years, and never looked back. She survived a benign heart tumor and colon cancer a little over ten years ago. [[][[]]Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Proverbs 31:25]
We will miss our dear Mother, Mom, Momma, Nana, Grandma, Tall Grandma, and to some family "Peggy" as she was our "go to" person when we needed advice and words of wisdom [[][[]]She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Proverbs 31:26]
It is our belief that Alice's Lord and Savior knows her as "Good and Faithful Servant" so we choose not to say goodbye, our choice is to say see you soon.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Eva Rowan, her brother Marvin "Pete" Rowan, her loving husband Grady Glenn, and her beloved granddaughter Emily Daune Everett.
Alice is survived by her daughter Patti Bentley and husband Larry of Milburn, OK daughter Kay Jarrell and husband Terry of Odessa, TX and daughter Risa Craig and husband George of Midland, TX. Her brothers Hayes Rowan of Madill, OK and John Herbert Rowan of Payson, AZ and Terry Rowan of Manor, TX. Alice is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
