Alice Virginia Wood, 84, passed on to be eternally with her Lord on January 12. She was born August 18, 1925 in Wewoka, OK to Matthew and Martha Campbell. Alice was the sixth of ten children.
Alice loved her Lord and loved living. Her vibrancy for life was daily demonstrated through her caring, charismatic personality. She managed to see the good in each person regardless of the circumstance.
Alice was married to the love of her life Thomas on June 25, 1945. Tom and Alice shared 50 years of marriage to one another and shared their beautiful daughter Sandra, the light of both of their lives.
Alice was a member of the Martha Bible Study Class at Crescent Park Baptist Church, and she was a longtime member of the YMCA where she did water aerobics. Alice enjoyed both of these groups and developed numerous friendships. She loved to socialize, travel, and spend time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Thomas L. Wood 6 brothers and sisters and greatgrandson, Hayden Hamilton.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra Spencer and husband John of Odessa granddaughter, Angela Nile and husband Dr. Brett Nile of San Angelo grandson, Matthew Spencer and wife Valarie of Odessa greatgranddaughter, McKinley Nile of San Angelo greatgrandsons, Kyler Brown and Peyton Lay of Odessa sisters, Jane Long and husband Jim of Odessa and Mary Terry of Dripping Springs and brother Bob Campbell of Amarillo as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crescent Park Baptist Church building fund or to a charity of choice.
The family will receive visitors on Friday January 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday January 16 at Crescent Park Baptist Church.
