Anellen Crudup

AnEllen Mason Crudup passed away peacefully, on January 1, 2018 at the respectable age of 94. She was born on July 30, 1923 to Abbie Old and C.C. Mason in Mount Pleasant, TX. AnEll graduated from New Boston Texas high school and attended East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas. After teaching school in Redwater, Texas and working at Red River Arsenal during World War II, she married Marvin Crudup when he returned to Bowie County from serving with the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers in France and Germany. The couple moved to Odessa where AnEll worked for Loughlan Brothers as an accountant. She and her husband later started B&D Oil Company (Kino Inc.) in Kermit, Texas; and became the distributors for Shell Oil. After her husband's passing in 1979, AnEll assumed full control of B&D Oil and continued to develop the business as one of Shell's premiere woman owned distributors that received accolades such as Shell's Jobber of the Year in 1997. AnEll retired in 2010, age 87, when she sold the business.

AnEll is preceded in death by her son- Charles Marvin, daughter- Mary Ellen, husband- Marvin, a sister-Mary Beth Wortham, and her parents.

She is survived by her grandson- Seth Alexander and wife- Carla of Cambridge, Massachusetts; her sister- Virginia Renfro of Decatur, four nephews, two nieces, a number of great nephews and nieces, and a host of friends in Odessa and Kermit.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Odessa, served as the high priestess of the Order of Eastern Star, and a contributing member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. AnEll was a hard-working, diligent, woman who loved her family and friends deeply and who always provided help to anyone in need.

A memorial service celebrating AnEll's life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, Odessa at 11:00 am with Karin Carlson and Todd Salzwedel officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to a charity of your choice in memorial of her. AnEll was a strong member of the First United Methodist Church of Odessa, and would be happy to have donations to the church. Additionally, she was a breast cancer survivor, and thus charities such as the American Cancer Society would also be welcomed.
