On June 3, 2012, Anna Clark Ward Morris, beloved mother of Nancy Lacy of Pflugerville, Texas, David Ward and wife Judy of Spring, Texas, Phyllis Waggoner and husband David of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Alice Goetsell of Austin Texas, went to be with her Lord. Anna married Ray Ward on September 16, 1947 and they shared a life together until his untimely death in 1976.
On June 3, 1978, Anna married Kenneth E. Morris, whom she is survived by along with his children, Paula and Roger Gooch of Hobbs, New Mexico granddaughter Linda and her husband Rocky Bartlett of Hobbs, New Mexico greatgranddaughter Lisa and her husband Justin Gunn of Hobbs, New Mexico.
Anna was preceded in death by her brothers A.B. Clark and J.E. Blue Eyes Clark, and is also survived by her brother Don Clark and his wife Nelda of Odessa, Texas sisters Merle Massar of Houston, Texas Mary Lou Vickers and her husband Vick of Odessa, Texas Betty Sue Winters and her husband Jimmy of Houston, Texas and Daisy VanZandt of Levelland, Texas BrotherinLaw Joe Ward and his wife Martha of Odessa, Texas. Her grandchildren are Jennifer Lacy, Seth Ward, Joe Ward, Jonathan Ward, Emily Dunkle and her husband Matthew, Audrey Waggoner, Casie Cohagan and her husband Bill, Jordan Goetsell, Clark Goetsell, Logan Goetsell and her greatgranddaughter Ryan Layne Cohagan. She also has a great number of nieces, nephews and lifetime friends that were very special to her.
Anna was a longtime resident of Odessa, Texas where she graduated from Odessa High School in 1947. She attended Second Baptist Church for many years before returning to First Baptist Church, the church of her childhood. After retiring, she and Ken moved to Lake Buchanan, Texas where they built a log cabin. It was here that she spent many happy hours fishing, painting, crafting, and was an active member of Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church. As she battled Alzheimers, she moved into an Alzheimers facility in Pflugerville, Texas. Anna loved life, loved her family and loved her Lord. She was a devoted Sunday School teacher, recreational golfer, patient fisherwoman, aspiring artist, exuberant songstress, and an accomplished Shirley Temple impersonator. She kept her great sense of humor to the last days of her life, and she will be sorely missed by all her knew her.
Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
