Elaine Sparks was born in Slaton, TX on June 22, 1953. She was raised by parents James and Johnnie Wauson. She graduated high school from Plains, TX. She married Larry Sparks on May 7, 1982 in Ruidoso, NM. They were happily married for 38 years and were each other’s best friend. Elaine prospered at several jobs, ending with 14 years with ECISD. Elaine went by many titles: wife, mother-in-law, Mimi, Great Mimi, sister, aunt, and many more. These titles went with the many hats she wore in no particular order she was an accountant, vacation planner, provider (in many ways), landscaper, pond cleaner, handyman, teacher, gambler, believer, golfer, dance partner, chef, and confidant. Elaine was a mentor to many and a friend toe everyone. If you had a problem, she would solve it or find someone who could.
Elaine never missed a game, cheer show, school function or activity when it came to her grandkids, nephews or friends. Elaine’s capacity for love and gifts knew no bounds. Elaine took a lot of pride in her backyard and pond and loved feeding the fish and ducks but hated the pesky squirrels. Elaine gave her granddaughters DeLanie, Linda Eve, Makayla and Isla a love for shoes that their dads and grandad may soon regret. But more than a love for shoes she gave so many amazing memories and cherished time with those she loved. Elaine always knew to appreciate the good ones even more. More than anything elaine was the cornerstone glue that held the family together.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents James and Johnnie Wauson, her in-laws Mr. & Mrs. Speedy/LN Sparks, and sister-in-law Jan Gober.
Elaine is survived by her husband Larry Sparks, sons: TJ Sparks, wife Katie and granddaughters DeLanie and Linda Eve, Lance Sparks, wife Lindsey and grandkids Makayla, Jacob and Isla, sisters: Rosie White, husband Chris and nephews Cadyn and wife Breanna White and Bryson White, Kathy Stanes, husband Johnny, Ruby Johnson, husband Jerry and son Jonah, and Judy Ethridge and family.
Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the youth groups for Crossroad Fellowship Church or The Bridge.
The family of Elaine Sparks wishes to extend sincere THANKS to all of the wonderful doctors and amazing nurses and staff at Medical Center Hospital, as well as all of the loving friends who prayed and sent warm well wishes and love our way during this time.
