Anton Albert Friske, age 77, of Odessa, TX, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2021, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Anton was born in Knox City, TX to Lawrence and Martha Friske on September 3, 1943. He grew up working as a farmer and went to Catholic school in Rhineland, TX. He married the love of his life, Dianna Holub, on October 26, 1963. Anton and Dianna moved to Odessa in 1965 where they raised their two children, Cindy and Lee. Anton was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with family, playing with his sweet dog, Smokey, and working on his ranch in Santa Anna, TX. Anton had many collections which included tractors and die cast muscle cars and he never passed up a chance to sneak off to a casino! He will always be remembered as a man who never met a stranger.
After moving to Odessa, he became involved in the welding supply industry. He went on to open several businesses over the years including Wes-Tex Welding Supply, A & F Welding Supply, and Weld-Tech Equipment Company. He was well known for his incredible ability to build manifolds as well as repair regulators and torches. After his retirement, he discovered that he had an incredible artistic talent for creating horseshoe art.
Anton is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Martha Friske and his greatly missed grandson, Zach Friske.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dianna Friske of Odessa, TX; his daughter, Cindy Osborn & husband, Ronnie, of Odessa, TX; son, Lee Friske & wife, Lisa, of Odessa, TX; brother, Robert Friske of Sundown, TX; sister, Rosalie Buchanan of Santa Fe, TX; and grandkids - Trey Osborn of Irving, TX; Tessa Osborn of San Antonio, TX; Isabel Friske of Odessa, TX, and Brock Friske of Odessa, TX.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 1st, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, TX. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 2nd, at 10:00 AM with Father Mark Woodruff of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
