Aretta Musick

December 14, 1935 — September 21, 2020

Odessa

Aretta Pearl Musick (Steen), age 84, of Odessa, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 21, 2020.

Graveside Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Freddy Steen officiating.

Aretta is survived by her son, Jesse and his wife, Toni Musick of Austin, TX; daughter, Latona Hudgins of Odessa, TX; brothers, Ben and his wife, Sue Steen of Meniola, TX, Bill Steen and Freddy Steen, both of Odessa, TX; sister, Elane Vickers of Odessa, TX; granddaughters, Jessica Banks, Lacey Bernal and her husband, Steven, and Ashley Bedford; two great granddaughters; three great grandsons; one great-great granddaughter; one great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews; and so many more who were blessed to have known such a sweet soul.

Aretta was born on December 14, 1935 in Canadian, Texas to Jesse and Loretta Steen.  Growing up a true country girl at heart, in blue jeans and flannel shirts, she tended to horses and fields; she knew the value of good, honest, hard work.  Helping raise five brothers and a little sister, she earned the nickname of “Sitter” and many knew her by that name.

In 1957, in New Mexico, she married the love of her life, Lonnie Ray Musick.  From that day forward, as many know, those two would become inseparable.  In 1962, they moved to Odessa, TX and both gave their life and hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ.  For over 50 years, she remained dedicated to the Christian community.  She was a member of Living Word Church in Odessa, Texas.

Aretta dedicated her life to becoming one of the greatest prayer warriors anyone could have ever met.  As busy as life would get, she would still stop, spend time with God and pray.  She realized that prayer changes things.  She spent time everyday praying for the kids around the world, the afflicted, the wealthy, the needy, the military, the government, for Israel, and of course, for her Mr. Trump.  She had a real heavy burden to pray for every single person in the family to be saved and to know God.

Aretta’s life touched the hearts of countless.  Her compassion, her honesty, and her love will affect lives for generations to come.

Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.  To send condolences to the family, please sign her guestbook at www.sunsetodessa.com.
