Arvie Leona Briggs, at the age of 90, returned to her heavenly home on November 7th, 2017. Her strong devotion to family and steadfast relationship with God supported Arvie through every season of her life.
Arvie was born to Elzie and Lora Briggs in Shidler, OK on April 26, 1927. She was immersed in the body of Christ that would be her lifelong journey until she met her Jesus face to face. Arvie ministered to youth, visited shut-ins and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years with the Four-Square Church of Midland, served as Sunday School Superintendent with First Assembly of God of Midland for 9 years, as well as preached the Gospel in many fellowships and to anyone who would listen. She was employed for many years by One-Hour Martinizing in Midland until she retired.
If you ever met Arvie then you also were introduced to Arvie's precious Lord and Savior. Arvie touched the lives of everyone she met. II Timothy 1:5 tells of Timothy's godly heritage from his grandmother and mother. While Arvie had no children by birth, she had many spiritual children of whom could be said "I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in dear, sweet Arvie and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also." While we mourn Arvie's passing … her heritage lives on in all of us.
Arvie is survived by 1 brother and sister-n-law, Wayne & Lola Briggs of Yuma, Arizona; 3 sisters & brothers-n-law, Lucille & Dee Jordan of Midland, TX; Darlene and Billy Pruitt of Midland, TX, Sharlene & Jim Owen of Odessa, TX and many nieces and nephews that were the light of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents Elzie and Lora Briggs; 2 brothers, Robert Briggs and Marvin Briggs both of Midland, TX; 1 sister, Juanita Harrison of Graham, TX.
