Audie Reba Meason, 96, of Granbury, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011 in Glen Rose, Texas.
Audie was born on April 1, 1915 in Baily, Texas to Robert R. and Sarah Oates Henderson she was one of nine children. She married George Meason on August 13, 1937. They moved to Odessa in 1939 where they raised their four children and spent the rest of their years together. In her 40s, Audie went back to school and got her RN degree from Odessa Junior College and graduated in the inaugural class of Registered Nurses from that school. She was salutatorian of her Bailey High school graduating class and on the Deans list during her time at OJC. She worked diligently to become a nurse at an age when most would not have attempted. Her last working years were spent at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Audie was preceded in death by George, her beloved husband of 64 years, her parents, siblings, and recently by her soninlaw, Charles Higdon.
Audie moved to Granbury, Texas after the loss of her husband. She made many new friends and enjoyed being closer to family.
She is survived by her four children, George Ann Baker George, Patty Higdon, Dawna Burleson Henry, and Joe Meason Bette. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her sweet spirit and smile will be greatly missed. George will be happy to have his beloved bride with him once again.
The family will receive friends from 9:3011:00 a.m. April 6, 2011 with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Garden with Rev. Jody Meason officiating.
