Barbara Jean Haston passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 at her residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Odessa, Texas on October 30, 1964 to H. D. and Billie Haston.
Barbara was a vibrant woman who enjoyed her family, her church, traveling, and teaching second graders at Goliad Elementary here in Odessa. She was a great wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, and was loved and cherished. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Lumpkin of Odessa; her precious daughter, Renee Denise Flaherty, of Odessa and Cambridge, MA. ; her parents, H. D. and Billie Haston of Odessa; brother Douglas Haston of Sulphur Springs Texas; brother Joe Haston and his wife Carla of Odessa; niece Catie Haston of Odessa, and nephew CPT CodySam Davis and his wife Amanda, of White Sands, New Mexico. She also is survived by her great nephew, Rush Thomas Davis, and her great niece, Aurora Nicole Davis.
Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home Friday, September 18, from 6 to 7 PM.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Bob Sam officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Barbara was a lover of her pets. In that spirit, the family requests that for those that so desire, memorials can be made to the Humane Society, 7012 W. Mockingbird, Odessa, Texas 79763.
The family would like to thank the 4th, 5th and 6th floor nurses at Medical Center Hospital, the staff of Home Hospice, the staff of West Texas Oncology, Westminster Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church, and the countless friends that have prayed for and visited Barbara over this last year.
