Belle Morgan

Belle Marie Hemme Morgan, 88, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2012 in Odessa, Texas, surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 27, 1923 in Sacramento, California to Marie Josephine Magill Hemme and Henry John Hemme. She graduated from Madera High in 1941.
She married Robert David Morgan on February 3, 1945 in Madera, California after Bob returned from serving with the U.S. Navy at Pearl Harbor. They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas while he completed his service. In 1946, they returned to California to raise their family. Bob and Marie moved to Odessa in 1990 to be closer to their daughter and her family.

Marie was a lifetime member of the Madera Sheriffs Posse. She and Bob loved to go camping in the Sierra Mountains. They also enjoyed riding horses, and owned several Morgan horses over the years. Marie was an avid gardener and especially loved birds of paradise flowers. In her later years, she divided her time between living in Odessa and going on adventures with her sister Dollie in California.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, her mother and father, her brother Robert, and her son David.

She is survived by her daughter Elaine Blount and her husband Richard, her daughterinlaw Judie Morgan grandchildrenCarrie CollierBrown and her husband Jeremy, Lucas Collier, Max Morgan and his wife Delaine, and Samantha Sears and her husband Steven great grandchildrenEthan and Lillian Collier, Brogyn and Kohyn Morgan, Willow Brown, and baby boy Spencer Sears expected in October. She is also survived by her sister and best friend Dollie Ford.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, August 14 at Sunset Funeral Home. Gravesite funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Good Shepherd section with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
