Mrs. Bertha Lopez Perez left her earthly home on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at the age of 83 to join her husband, Anastacio Andy Perez, Jr. and walk with the Lord in Heaven. Bertha was born June 19, 1929, in Melvin, Texas, to Carlos Lopez and Santiaga Herrera Lopez. On December 29, 1945, she married the love of her life, Andy Perez. They moved to North Reagan County and began their new life on a farm they would work together for 44 years.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Anastacio Perez, Jr. her father, Carlos Lopez and her mother, Santiaga Herrera Lopez.
She leaves behind here on earth her son, Anastacio Perez III and wife, Argentina of Big Lake and her daughter, Maria De La Paz Saldibar of Big Lake. Bertha is also survived by four sisters and three brothers: Tomasa Benavidez of San Angelo Carlos Lopez, Jr. wife, Anita of San Angelo Maria Concepcion Ramirez husband, Auerilo of San Antonio Maria Herlinda Benavides of San Angelo Guillermo Lopez wife Carolyn of Doole Carolina Margarita Camargo husband, Ernesto of San Antonio and Gregorio Lopez wife, Barbara of Ft Worth. Grandma is also survived by eight grandchildren: Robert Saldibar, Jr. and wife, Pam of Round Rock Tina Perez Mireles and husband, Eddie of San Antonio Roland Saldibar of Big Lake Anastacio Perez IV and wife, Norma of Big Lake Berta Maria Saldibar of Odessa Rita Saldibar Jasso and husband, Sammy of Odem Alberto Perez of Big Lake and Raymond Saldibar and wife, Laura of Big Lake. She was blessed with twelve greatgrandchildren: Ashli Marie Saldibar, Analicia Mireles, Ridge Robert Saldibar, Veronica Perez, Nicolas Mireles, Justin Roland Garcia, Anastacio Perez V, Valerie Marie De La Paz Saldibar, Jennifer Rosalina Garcia, Raymond Saldibar, Jr., Berta Maria Jasso and Violet Grace Saldibar. She is also survived by one great greatgrandchild, Bayli Marie Saldibar Lorenson. There are numerous nephews, nieces, god children and close friends who will mourn her passing.
Bertha was a Catholic and had been a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church since August of 1966. She was a devoted wife and loved all of her family members greatly. Bertha was a talented beautician before she devoted her time working side by side with her husband, Andy on the farm. Grandma loved to play games with the family and friends, especially Canasta and Loteria. Bertha welcomed everyone into her home and insisted that they eat and make themselves at home. She loved God and served him every day with a smile. She will be missed by everyone that had the privilege of knowing her.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Robert Saldibar, Jr., Roland Saldibar, Anastacio Perez IV, Alberto Perez, Raymond Saldibar and Jose Antonio Garcia.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 12, 2013, between the hours of 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The Rosary will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Lunch will be served to family and friends at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Hall by the church community members. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
