Bertie Gray

Bertie Lou Gray, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 30, 2015 as a resident of Madison Medical Resort.

She was born in Kell, Illinois on November 4, 1928 to the late Elsworth and Fern Tate. She married Charles Richard Gray on October 6, 1950 in Salem, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1981.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a Nanny to more than just her own grandchildren. She kept children in her home for over 30 year touching them and their families with her love. She was a faithful Christian and devoted servant of the Lord.

She is survived by three sons, Chuck Gray and his wife Dee of Odessa, Don Gray and his wife Debbie of Highland Village, David Gray and his wife Tari of Odessa; one daughter Dianah Collom and her husband Elwin of Big Spring. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother Larry Tate and his wife Patty of Carlyle, Illinois.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter Debbie and four brothers.

Services will be at Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 1:00pm with Reverend Elwin Collom, officiating and reverend Ivy Shelton assisting. Interment will be in Salem, Illinois. Visitation will be Monday, June 1, 2015 from 6:00-8:00pm at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Joshua Collom, Bryan Gray, John David Gray, Nicholas Gray, Mathew Gray, Jeff Meyers and Mark Mota.
