Bessie Orene “Sue” Terrell, 91, of Odessa went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 20, 2023.
She was born July 21, 1931, in Woodson, Texas, to Robert Lee and Velma Walker. When she was a child living in Hawley, Texas, the Walkers became friends with the Terrell Family. When she was just five years old, she knew Wayne Terrell would be the love of her life. They married in 1948 and raised three children.
Sue was a great homemaker, an excellent cook, and a skillful seamstress. Not only a cherished wife and dear mother, Sue was an adored grandmother who loved making memories with her grandchildren. For a number of years, she volunteered with Medical Center Hospital’s Women’s Auxiliary. She was a long-time member of Odessa First Church of the Nazarene. She and Wayne also enjoyed RV-ing and returned many, many times to camp at Abilene State Park, where their families had visited together when they were children.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Robert L. Walker and Billy C. Walker; and her sister, Nancy Daniel Sain.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughters, Darla Calloway and Tonya Terrell; son, Robby Terrell; granddaughters, Mandy Rodriguez (and husband Lando) and Devyn Bownds; and great- grandchildren, Leah, Noah, and Briella.
The Terrell Family wishes to express our thanks to the staff and caregivers at Courtyards Assisted Living and Memory Care. Special appreciation also extends to Jessica and Helen of Interim Hospice for their compassion and support. We are also grateful for the patience and kindness of Dudley and Brenda at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
