Betty Louise Holland of Jal, New Mexico went to be with the Lord August 14, 2013 at home with her family in Odessa, Texas.
Betty was born in Clovis, New Mexico to Parm B PB and Ida Elizabeth Toots Fry on July 29, 1940. She graduated from Jal High School in 1958. She married Al Holland on September 7, 1992. She retired from the United States Postal Service in 2001.
Mom loved her family and enjoyed time spent together. These gettogethers included a few rowdy games of cards or dominoes. Mom was happiest when she was the winner Mom was an avid reader, spending many hours at Jals Woolworth Library and curling up at home in her favorite chair to read. She always enjoyed trips with Al whether they were to Hobbs or Ruidoso to hit the slots, goldpanning, or to Sholo, AZ to visit her cousin. In years past, shopping was a favorite pasttime she never could have enough shoes or boots which were good for dancing another favorite pasttime. She was affectionately known as Nana Betty by her grandchildren. She will forever live on in our hearts.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, PB and Toots Fry and her sister, Barbara Taylor.
She is survived by her husband Al Holland her son, Daniel Day of Jal daughters and soninlaws, Tina and Tim Berry of Odessa and Parma and Michael Witt of McKinney, Texas. Grandchildren, Amanda Day, Dustin Minear, Megan Berry, Steven Berry, Shelby Witt and Hannah Berry. Betty is also survived by her brother and sisterinlaw, Rodney and Nancy Fry of Chino, California.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the West Texas Gifts of Hope, P. O. Box 891, Odessa, TX 79760. The family of Betty wishes to extend sincere thanks to Hospice House of Odessa, Home Hospice, and the many people who supported her during her illness.
