2 Corinthians 5:8 says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. By that promise, Betty Carolyn Reeves, age 72, of Odessa, Texas passed from this life to the next on Friday, February 24, 2012 and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born December 11, 1939 in Gary, Texas to Robert C. Morton and Sybil Ramsey Morton. She married Gene D. Reeves in 1956 in Carlsbad, New Mexico and they celebrated 45 loving years together. Betty enjoyed being employed as a bank teller at American State Bank for 15 years, where she made many life long friendships. She was an active member of University Park Baptist Church where she was a part of the heart of the church. She was in the center of all ministries from nursery up. There was not an age that didnt want to be on the receiving end of her love. Betty was full of the Holy Spirit and the joy of the Lord, she was a devoted follower of Jesus, and loved God with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert Morton, her mother Sybil Morton and her husband Gene Reeves.
Survivors include her sister Robbie Butler and husband Bill Butler Nephews Billy and Chris Butler, niece Cathy Mooney her son Donnie Reeves and wife Punkin Thelma Reeves, Grandson Chad Reeves and wife Shawna, three great grandchildren, Jake Gamble, Briana Gamble and Ryan Reeves, granddaughter Kari Reeves, two great grandchildren Adon Galindo and Izabella Galindo and granddaughter Lexi Reeves, all of Odessa, Texas.
Family visitation will take place Monday, February 27, 2012 from 6:00pm 8:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Bettys life and home going will be celebrated at 10:00am Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at University Park Baptist Church on 8650 North Golder Avenue. Bettys pastor whom she loved so much, Wayne Maass, will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends miss Betty, but know they have not said good bye, but instead are saying see you later. For the Bible is clear that all who have a relationship with God through His son Jesus, as Betty did, will spend forever with Him. Betty just got a head start.
Memorials may be given to University Park Baptist Church, or the American Cancer Society.
