Beverly Montgomery

February 10, 1928 — January 31, 2014

Beverly Jean Montgomery was born February 10, 1928 in Grove City, Pennsylvania to Edith Rebecca and Raymond Dewitt Hosack. She joined her Heavenly Father January 31, 2014. She graduated from Grove City High School and went on to earn her LVN degree in nursing.
On July 20, 1951 she married James Jim Renwick Montgomery. She and Jim moved from Grove City, PA to Mount Vernon, Ohio in 1960. Then in 1973 they relocated to Odessa, Texas. Jean was a pioneer in her field by being the first female outside saleswoman in Odessa. She retired in 1998 after working for several office supply stores. Jean had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life, and she enjoyed visiting and joking with the neighborhood kids. She gave them all nicknames, and they in return named her Pickles. She enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard, planting and mowing. Her family teased her that every time she walked out onto her yard that it began to shake and quiver for fear of what she was going to do next.
Of all things she enjoyed in life, Jean was most proud to be a mother to their five children. She was a Granny to nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Jim and Jean both loved to travel, visiting every state. She collected rocks from every place they visited and created her rock garden. Another love of Jeans was watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games. She and her sister attended two different summer training camps of the Braves. Jean was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church.
Jean is survived by her children, Susan and Dewey Bryant of Odessa Connie Kennedy of Odessa Lisa and Jeff Minnick of Midland and Larry Montgomery of Odessa. Also she is survived by her grandchildren, James Kennedy, Alana Kennedy, Amanda Contreras, and Becky Latham, all of Odessa. James Curtis Montgomery, Lauren Montgomery of Brenham, TX, Martin and Michele Montgomery, and Austin Montgomery her great grandchildren Brylee Jean Lantham, Caleb and Ava Contreras, Ally and Presley Kennedy, all of Odessa.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Edith and Raymond Hosack her husband James R. Montgomery her son Raymond James Montgomery and her sister Phillis Rebecca Johnson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Younger Center of Manor Park for their care and love they showed to our mother during the last years of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Younger Center of Manor Park in Midland.
