Beverly Scown won her battle with Alzheimer's. She passed away peacefully on November 28, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Beverly was born in San Diego, CA on October 17, 1929, but as she laughingly joked, she got to Texas as fast as she could. She started school in McCamey then moved to Monahans in 1941. She graduated from Monahans High School in 1946 then attended Texas Tech until she began working at the Ward County Courthouse.
On December 2, 1949, she married her loving husband, Ray Scown. In 1975 they transferred to Midland. Ray left this earth to be with his heavenly family on March 22, 1987.
Beverly is survived by her daughters Sharla Baker Sloan and Ronda Mareschal, grandson, James Baker and his fiancée Dawn Riccobene, granddaughter Shelbi McKee and husband Jeremy, and great-grandsons Dillon and Drew. She is also survived by her brother, Don Kruse and wife Katy, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who were very special to her.
Beverly has been a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church for 40 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 1701 N. Main St., Midland, TX 79701, Alzheimer's Association, or a charity of choice.
Funeral services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. To sign our guestbook, please go to www.sunsetodessa.com.
As you wave goodbye and watch her sail from your sight, think of those on the other side waving and jumping for joy as they see her sailing in.
