Billy “Bill” Dwain Handley, 67, passed away on December 27, 2024, after a brief battle with lung cancer and liver failure.
Bill was born May 1, 1957, to Dwain and Margie Handley in Odessa, TX. He married Helen Hawkins on March 28, 1980, in Odessa, TX. He worked for various machine shops in Odessa over the years and enjoyed his retirement for the last 5 years. He enjoyed tending to the flowers in the yard, golfing, fishing, listening to music and spending time with his two grandsons.
Though Bill was usually the quiet one in the family, because let’s be honest, he lived with females until his grandsons came along, he was known for his quick wit and sarcasm. His grandsons will tell you that Peepaw had some of the best stories. Though it seemed short, he lived his life the way he wanted and to the fullest with a cigarette in hand and a red rag in his pocket.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Dwain Handley of Odessa.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Helen; mother, Margie Handley; daughter, Krystal Duke and Ronnie of Odessa; sister, Melissa Webb and Roger of Sweetwater; two cherished grandsons, Corbin Duke and Triston Lowery of Odessa; and nephew, Greg Webb and Rosie of San Angelo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midland Memorial Hospitals “Campaign for Tomorrow” or the American Cancer Society.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 6801 East Business 20, Odessa, Texas, 79762.
