The family of Billie Hilliard would like to thank the Lord for the years that she spent as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She was a wonderful Christian woman who leaves behind a legacy that will continue throughout future generations.

She was born March 9, 1932, in East Texas to Charles and Otha Sanders. She graduated from McLeod High School in 1950. Onis Neal Hilliard, her high school sweetheart, married her April 6, 1951. They shared 53 loving years together.

Billie was a longtime resident of Odessa, having lived here since 1973. She worked as a seamstress for Dillards until she retired in 1994. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, and the crossword puzzle. She was a proud member of Life Change Baptist Church, where she was an active participant.

Billie went home to be with the Lord September 11, 2013, at the age of 81 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Lil, Ellon, and Mamie, two brothers Jerry and Hub, her husband Neal, and son, Gary Hilliard.

Surviving Billie is her son, Monty Hilliard and wife, Terry, of Lubbock, Texas and daughter, Karen Watkins and husband, Lawrence, of Odessa, Texas. Billie has four living siblings, Ann Williams and husband Edsel, of Atlanta, Texas, Doris and husband Sonny, of Texarkana, Texas, Christine Terry of Vivian, Louisiana, and Sonny and wife, Edna, of Vivian, Louisiana.

She was a special grandmother to seven grandchildren and sixteen greatgrandchildren and they were the joys of her life. Grandchildren include Ryan Hilliard and wife, Katie, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Shandi Floyd and husband, Hatsuo, of Okinawa, Japan, Chad Hilliard and wife, Ashley, of Round Rock, Texas, Cory Hilliard and wife, Shonda, of Littlefield, Texas, Amber Davis and husband, Joe, of Lubbock, Texas, Kendra Self and husband, Spencer, of Odessa, Texas, and Craig Hilliard and wife, Nikki, of Duluth, Georgia. Greatgrandchildren include Adia, Paxton, and Weston Hilliard, Brendan and Aedin Floyd, Caden, Conner, and Piper Hilliard, Aiselyn and Briggs Hilliard, Chris Brown, and Halen Ruiz, Breklin, Xander, Brody, and Gracyn Davis. Billie also has numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will have visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, September 13th at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 14th for 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Memorials, if desired, can be made to Life Change Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Ryan, Chad, Cory, and Craig Hilliard, Joe Davis, Spencer Self, and Brendan Floyd.
