Billie Powell

Billie Joyce Powell, age 80, of Odessa, TX, left this earth and walked into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, January 18, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer.

Billie was born February 14, 1934 in Van Buren, Arkansas to Russell and Edna Fern McGrew. She graduated from Van Buren High School midterm, 1951. She moved to Odessa, Texas where she met and married Robert "Bobby" Burton Powell Jr on March 30, 1952. They had two children, Robert Dwain and Denise Doreen. Billie worked for Nation's Bank in Odessa, TX for 40 years before retiring. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church in Odessa, TX. She was most proud of the accomplishments of her grandsons and absolutely loved seeing her great granddaughter, Haley walk in the door.

Billie is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Edna McGrew; brother, Robert Russell McGrew; son, Robert Dwain Powell; daughter, Denise Doreen Powell and grandson, Dustin Jerome Powell.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Burton Powell Jr; four grandsons, Dennis Christie of Atlanta, Ga, Damien Christie and wife Jennifer of Odessa, TX, Derrick Prince and wife Jessica of Kingsland, TX and Chris Powell of Midland, TX. She had one great granddaughter, Haley Christie-her pride and joy!

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert Kirk officiating.
