Billy Joiner

Billy Frank Joiner, age 87, of Odessa, left this life on August 13, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones.

Bill was born June 12, 1929 in Hamlin, TX to Hazel and Oliver Joiner. He graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1947 where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty) Joiner. Bill and Betty were married in Brawley, CA November 5, 1948. Bill managed a liquor store/convenience store in Brawley, CA and drove a gasoline tanker truck in Arizona. In 1971 Bill and Betty moved their family to Odessa where Bill worked briefly in the West Texas oilfields. He then joined his cousin Buck in the tire business at the Akins Paynter Tire Company, later known as Gober & Sons Tire, finally retiring in 1991 from Garrison Tire.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Oliver Joiner, wife Elizabeth Josephine Joiner, daughter, Linda Joiner Bell, and grandchildren Sherry Michaelson and Michael Michaelson.

He is survived by six children: Christine Joiner Michaelson of Odessa, Mike Joiner (DiAnna) of Crane/Menard, TX, Robert Joiner (Linda) of Argyle, TX, Alan Joiner (Denise Howle) of Midland, TX, Brenda Joiner Smith (Don) and Thomas Joiner (Sara Stacks) of Odessa, TX. 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great, great, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Medical Center Hospital and Home Hospice. Eloisa Vasquez has a special place in our family's heart. She was a dedicated friend and care giver to both of our parents, and for that we are forever grateful.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10am Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Interment will follow.

Pallbearers are Michael Joiner, Robert Joiner, Alan Joiner, Thomas Joiner, Brandon Wilson, Stetson Joiner, and Travis Landry Fisher.

Memorial contributions may be made to Home Hospice in memory of Billy Joiner 619 N Grant Suite 120 Odessa, TX 79761.
