Billy Gene Lancaster, age 82 of Odessa, passed away, Wednesday July 13, 2011 in Odessa.
He was born October 29, 1928 in Qulin, Missouri to Elmer Chester Lancaster and Bernice Elizabeth Hough Lancaster. He was raised in Qulin and attended college in Columbia, Missouri. He married Dolores Chaney on July 3, 1947 in Piggot, Arkansas. He retired from the U.S. postal service after 36 years of service. He was a member of Southwest Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and woodcraft. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Permian Panthers, and baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Chad Lancaster and his brothers, Chill, Ray, Fay, and Verlin Lancaster.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dolores Lancaster of Odessa his daughter, Pam Hodnett and husband Darrell of Odessa his son, Dale Lancaster and wife Joan of Odessa three grandsons, Brian Hodnett, Kevin Hodnett and Terry Lancaster three great grandchildren one brother, three sisters and numerous friends.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for 46 PM Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, July 18, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Verl Gunter officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbereres will be Leroy Patton, Raymond Stanley, Bill Kennedy, Billy Taylor, Terry Penn, Jay Solansky and Terry Solansky.
