ODESSA A memorial service for Bobby Ray Clark, 77, of Odessa will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Rev. Bob Sams will be officiating.
Bob Clark entered Gods Kingdom on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Medical Center Hospital after suffering a heart attack. Bob was born August 27, 1931 to Raymond Alonzo Ray Clark and Thelma Lucille Young Clark in Breckenridge, TX. Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife of 49 years Jean Walker Clark and his brother Russell Clyde Clark. Bob is survived by his three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; son Lon Clark and his wife Nancy of Odessa, their son Keith and his wife Susan and their daughter Presley of Nashville, TN and their chosen daughter Mila Fobare of New York, her husband Mark and their son Thomas; son Jerry Clark and his wife Jeanne of Farmers Branch, TX and their sons Matt, Ben and Brad; and daughter Susan Clark Haynes and her husband Rocky of Tucson, AZ and their son Hunter. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Bob moved from Breckenridge to Odessa when he was in school and he graduated from Odessa High School in 1949. On March 11, 1951 he married Jean Walker in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church in Odessa. Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps in North Carolina and California from October 1951 to 1953 working as an Engineer-Equipment Mechanic. After six additional years reserve time he was honorably discharged as a Buck Sergeant. He was stationed at San Diego, Camp Lejeune in NC and Camp Pendleton near Oceanside, CA.
After separating from the military he worked for Dunnigan Tool Supply Company and in 1955 Bob began working for Engine Service Supply where he worked for 41 years, retiring in 1996 as the Shop Foreman. After retiring, Bob enjoyed traveling with Jean and spending time with their grandchildren. Bob and Jean volunteered for Meals On Wheels and Bob continued this work after Jeans death. In total he volunteered for over 10 years taking meals to those needing support. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather who served the Lord by serving the needs of his church, Westminster Presbyterian Church in Odessa. He was the one they depended on for everything from light bulb replacement to recording the Sunday sermon. In lieu of flowers it is requested that memorials be sent to Meals On Wheels at 1314 East 5th Street, Odessa, TX 79761.
