Bobby R. Driggers, 84, of Odessa died Friday, May 26, 2017 in an Odessa hospital.
Bobby was born July 7, 1932 in Monahans, TX to Dora and Irvin Driggers. He was raised and educated in Monahans where he was a 1950 graduate of Monahans High School. He entered the United States Air Force in 1952. He married June Vaught of Monahans in Kermit on September 5, 1953. Bobby was discharged in 1956. Prior to his military service he worked at the local gas company and rejoined them in 1956. In 1959, Bobby moved to Odessa and joined the City of Odessa working in the traffic department and later in the tax department. He retired in 1984.
The Driggers family loved to travel, fish and camp out. In his early years camping out with the family was by tent. As time passed camping progressed up to RV's. In retirement he continued to enjoy traveling and RVing. Bobby, known by his grandsons as "Bobbob" was the person that introduced them to the great outdoors.
Bobby was a longtime member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Inez Eberwein, Greta Cook and Claudean Gutierrez.
Bobby is survived by his wife June Vaught Driggers of Odessa; son Mark Driggers of Grand Prairie; daughter Brenda Driggers Tyler and her husband Ronnie of Fort Worth; sister Oleta McNaron of Abilene and his grandsons Reagan Tyler of Arlington and Raleigh Tyler of New York City.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell, officiating. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
