Bobby D. Eaton, age 84, of Odessa, TX, passed away on March 19, 2018 in Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, with Rev. Dr. Dawn Weaks officiating.
Bobby was born in Electra, Texas to Elmer and Neita Eaton on June 29, 1933. He went to school in Monahans, Texas. He married his love, Emma Lou Bowman on April 28, 1955 in Lovington, New Mexico. Bob devoted his life to serving and protecting the citizens of Odessa and Ector County. He worked for the Odessa Police Department from 1963-1968. He then joined the Ector County Sheriff's Office where he served in various positions from 1968 - 1993 when he retired as Chief Deputy. During his time with the Ector County Sheriff's Office, Bob had the privilege of attending the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia where in graduated with the 115th Session on December 15, 1978. He served in the Air Force prior to his career in Law Enforcement. Bob was one of the founding Fathers of the Chief Deputy Association of Texas. He also was a member of the American Legion.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Neita, and his sweet daughter, Bonnie Jean Eaton Chandler.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Lou, his sons, Curtis Eaton and wife Corrine of Midland, Roddy Eaton and wife Barbara of Odessa, son in law, Steve Chandler of Odessa. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Matthew Plemons and wife Jennifer of Abilene, Michael Plemons and wife Jana of Odessa, Kristin Groves of Odessa, Brandon Eaton of Houston, Bradley Eaton of Austin, Erica Eaton of Edmond, Oklahoma and Kayla Weeden and husband Landon of Odessa. He leaves behind 6 great- granddaughters and 1 great grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Eaton of Monahans and sisters, Shirley Wheilis of San Angelo, and June Bailey of Mathis.
Bob will forever be known as a loving father, father in law, brother and Papa. He and Emma Lou started this legacy "all because two people fell in Love".
Memorials may be given to Armor of Christ Education Center, 2000 E. 42nd Street, Suite C-372, Odessa, Texas 79762.
The family would like to thank Dr. Parsons for his care during Bob's last few years.
