Bobby Munkus

Bobby Hugh Munkus, 80, of Odessa, TX, passed away on June 13, 2017 in Odessa.

Graveside Services will at 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth Military Cemetery.

Bobby Hugh Munkus was born in Bessemer, Alabama to Joseph Ryan Munkus and Hester Loraine Sexton on November 7, 1936. He married Christel Madga Metz on May 18, 1962 in Pirmasens, Germany. He began his military career in the Air Force and then the Army for a total of 22 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Star; Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Silver; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. Upon his military retirement he began work as a truck driver for Odessa Oil Transport Company for 10 years.

Bobby Munkus is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Ryan and Hester Loraine Munkus, his brother Bill Munkus, and sister Lois Hamby.

Bobby Munkus is survived by his wife Christel Madga Munkus; his daughter Cynthia Williams and husband Michael; daughter Margarete Powers and husband Steve; daughter Betty Sue Munkus; grandchildren, Jennifer Francis and husband Richard, Christel Williams, Hayden Harris and Kaitlyn Ringener; great granddaughter Brylee Standard; brothers James Munkus and wife Deborah, Gene Munkus and wife Diane; sister, Margaret Hanson and husband Wayne; sister Betty Sue Moon.
