Bobbye Trice Chenault passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011. She was born in Lamesa, Texas, graduated High School in Crane, Texas, worked as a nurse at McCamey Hospital during World War II and lived in Odessa from 1942 until the time of her death of 86 years of age. She was very proud of her West Texas heritage. When she required nursing home care, she was encouraged to move to the Dallas area to be near family but she was firm that I was born in West Texas and I will die in West Texas. Right to the end, she was quick to assure all she met that she had enjoyed a full and wonderful life.
She counted as her best blessing her long marriage to Ralph Chenault. She treasured and often reminisced her many memories of their travels all over the world, their many experiences with the Order of the Shriners and the international trips with the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang when her husband served as Chuckwagon Boss. She considered homemaking a high calling and enjoyed her reputation as a gourmet cook and hostess. The many parties that the Chenaults hosted at their home in Odessa over the years were legendary.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2002.
She is survived by daughters, Dana Rushing of Flower Mound, Texas, Debra Lange of Odessa, Texas and six grandsons, two of whom are serving their country in the Armed Forces.
At her request, she will be cremated and her ashes interred next to those of her husband at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will hold a private memorial service.
The family wishes to publically thank Mrs. Elodia Aguillar and Dr. John Doran for their many acts of friendship and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 815 Market Street, Galveston, TX 77550 where Mr. Chenault served on the Board of Directors for many years.
