Bobbye Powell

Bobbye Jean Flynn Powell, age 97, of Odessa, TX, passed away on January 25, 2015 at Manor Park in Midland, TX.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 10 am Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bobbye was born in Mangum, Oklahoma to Floyd Daniel Flynn and Margarette Hopper Flynn on April 7, 1918. She went to school at St. Vrain, NM, a small community west of Clovis, NM where she was raised. Bobbye and her family relocated to Clovis from Oklahoma by covered wagon in the early 1920's. She married Harold Powell in February 1939 in Hobbs, NM. Bobbye moved to Hobbs to go to work for oilman, Roy G. Barton. She worked for Mr. Barton as an accountant until she relocated to Odessa after World War II. After starting her family in Odessa, she worked for Sunshine Iron Works and Martel Machine Shop until she was 84 years old. Bobbye was a member of ABWA for many years.

Bobbye is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Powell; her parents, Floyd and Margarette Flynn; siblings, Billye and Ida, of Clovis as well as in laws and numerous relatives.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Chris Powell of Odessa, Craig Powell of Marble Falls, TX; three grandchildren, Daniel Powell and wife Dallas of Odessa, TX, Michael Powell and wife Kathy of Midland, TX, Elisha Jenkins and husband Patrick of Odessa, TX; eight Great Grandchildren, Austin, Ashlynn, Alyssa, Kaydee, Tanner, Kadon, Patrick Jr. and Taylor.

Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank all of her caregivers at Manor Park and Hospice of Midland.
