Bonnie Jane Collins McQueen
ODESSA The Lord has called one of His most precious and loving children home. Bonnie Jane McQueen passed peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on February 22, 2013, at the age of 86 years.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 824 E. 18th Street, with Pastor Robert Pase officiating.
Bonnie was born Bonnie Jane Collins on July 26, 1926, in Tigertown, Texas, to Alexander Marvin and Bulah Bee Collins. She met the love of her life, Joe C. McQueen, and they were married on September 14, 1946.
Bonnie loved the Lord and loved life. She and Joe made their home and raised their children in Odessa, where Bonnie lived until her death. She was a mother and homemaker who always had time for her family. She made her home welcome to any and all who stopped by. As a mother she taught her children many valuable life lessons which have been handed down to grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Prayer and time with the Lord were a daily part of Bonnies life and she was ever thankful for her many blessings.
Bonnie enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and just about any card game. She loved to dance and listen to country and gospel music. Her favorite vacation spot was Hawaii, where she and Joe spent many happy days.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe McQueen, in 1989, three sisters, two brothers, and, most recently, her soninlaw, Leonard Bruce, in 2012.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ransleben and husband Bill of Harper, Texas her son, Joe C. McQueen, Jr. and wife Kathie of Odessa her daughter, Deborah Bruce of Odessa her sisters, Frances Brinson of Fair Oaks, Texas, and Bobbie Linebarger and husband Charles of Midland sister in law, Judy Collins of Midland and grandchildren, Gregory Carta and wife Diana of Del Rio, Wesley Carta and wife Kara of Odessa, Randal McQueen and wife Cheryl of Odessa, Shannon Weaver and husband Cody of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cori Campbell and husband Kevin of Odessa and Matthew Thomas and wife Kathie of Odessa. She is also survived by 18 greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Bonnie wishes to thank the wonderful nurses and caregivers with Compass Hospice for their help and support in ensuring Bonnies comfort during the last weeks of her life. Thanks to Dr. Paul Slaughter, Barbara, Kyle, Marcie, Michelle, Shannon, Christy, Diana, Rose and Rev. Sharp.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Bonnies name to Redeemer Lutheran Church or to Compass Hospice, 1330 E. 8th Street, Suite 410, Odessa, TX 79761.
