Bonnie Warren

August 26, 1922 — September 7, 2008

A Celebration of Life Service for Bonnie Kile Warren will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2008 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church. This will follow private graveside services earlier at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bonnie passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, September 7, 2008 at her home that she had enjoyed after moving to Odessa in the fall of 1959 from Irving with husband, Cleburne, and sons Wade, Gary and Johnny.

The family had lived in Irving for only a year, moving from Big Lake where Cleburne had worked for Humble Oil and Refining Co. at Kemper Station.

Only a few days before going to meet the Lord, Mother talked about that move to Odessa. We thought we had come to the end of the earth as the worst sandstorm we had ever seen hit the day after we moved in here. and she added that the house did not have any air conditioning at the time as the previous owners, unbeknownst to us, had taken the window units with them when they moved out. This might have been her inspiration later on when Gary and Johnny were attending Burnet Elementary as she worked with the PTA to raise money for the first air conditioners at the school.

After moving to Odessa, Bonnie worked side by side with Cleburne in the family-owned vending machine business. This business provided hours of quality family time as the family sat around the dining room table, all five rolling pennies, nickels, and quarters to deposit in the bank and the boys competing for collector coins as a Red Book of Coin Collecting was always near by. Even in this endeavor, she exhibited a trait that she carried throughout life, and that was putting everyone else first and herself last. If she found a coin that might be worth a little more that face value, she always managed to slip it to one of the boys and they would discover it.

And, like her mother, Grandmother Kile, Bonnie was a great cook. It will be hard to ever walk into her kitchen without closing our eyes and smelling the aroma of fresh, home made hot rolls, or tasting her special potato salad, or chicken fried steak. She was always kidded that if she made hot rolls after the boys had left home, that whomever was coming home was the reason for the special treat. What we didnt tell anyone was that we didnt care why she baked them, just as long as she did

Its been said that if you leave this earth with just one good friend, you are blessed. Well, Bonnie is blessed many times over as she leaves several dear friends in Odessa. Theres Flo Millhollon and her late husband, Bill, James and Rosa Smith, Haskell and Pam Williamson, Crete Thomas, Charles and Connie Viverette, David and Delbert Halbert, Frank and Faye Morgan, and early friends from Big Lake, Woody and Dotty Mason and John and Inez Day from Del Rio. Her neighbors showed their love for her and the love of Christ by their gestures-putting the paper on the porch EVERY day so she could reach it, by mowing her beautiful lawn nurtured by Cleburne, and by bringing over a generator to provide her life-sustaining oxygen if the electricity ever went out. They brought her food and supported her in ways we do not even know about. Theres a place in Heaven for you folks also. She was very fond of Anita who cleaned her home and did other tasks for her, many times without being asked. Special thanks goes to Compass Hospice and especially Manuel Rios and Judy Price for their compassion to our mother.

Left on earth to cherish the memories of her and assured that there will be a reunion in Heaven for us all one day are sons Wade and Carolyn Warren of Snyder; Gary Warren and wife Shelly of Odessa; and Johnny and wife Marla of Cedar Park. Bonnie also has a sister Wanda Batte of Santa Fe, N.M. and a brother, Henry Dubby Kile of Kansas City, Kansas who also will join us in a reunion one day. Grandchildren left to cherish her memory are Leslie Ann Hargrove and her husband Rafe and great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Dylan; Shannon Warren; Jason Warren and wife Shelley; Tyler Warren and wife Kristen and great granddaughter Madison Grace; Heather Henderson and husband, Dustin; Megan Warren and fianc B.J.
