Brett David Bingham Barham

Brett David Bingham Barham, age 60, of Odessa, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Odessa.

Brett was born July 24, 1962, to Ed and Gradene Barham in Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Permian High School in 1981 after proudly winning the Class 5A football state championship in 1980. He then attended Southern Methodist University where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Following his departure from SMU, Brett trained as a chef for several years before eventually transitioning to the restaurant management business in 1987. He quickly climbed the ranks to general manager of the Black-eyed Pea restaurant in Dallas and Lubbock, Texas where he worked until 1993. Following the birth of his sons, Brett attended Texas Tech University in pursuit of his teaching degree. He graduated in 1994 and began his coaching career the following year in Brownfield, Texas. Following a subsequent coaching stint in Lubbock, Texas, in 2000, Brett gladly welcomed the opportunity to return home to Odessa and his alma mater as an assistant football and soccer coach. He then became the head golf coach in 2004 and enjoyed many successful years at Permian both on and off the course before accepting the chance to work with his father Ed at Desert Energy Equipment in 2009. Following the company’s sale in 2018, Brett returned to Permian to teach until his retirement in 2020.

Brett is preceded in death by his father, Ed; and stepson, Tanner Thomas.

Brett is survived by his wife, Stacey; mother, Gradene; son, Nick and his fiancé Ellie Little; son, Cooper and his wife Lauren and their children Brooke and Wells; daughter, Molly; and stepson, Tucker Thomas. He is also survived by his sister, Dena Gray and her husband Greg; the mother of his children, Mara Hobbs; and his beloved MOJO football family.

The honorary pallbearers are the countless friends and family members who loved and supported Brett during his lifetime and will continue to honor his memory. The Barham family extends its heartfelt thanks to each of you.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Stonegate Fellowship located at 4240 Preston Smith Rd in Odessa, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
