Burl Reynolds

March 1, 1927 — July 27, 2014

Burl Lanson Reynolds, 87, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014, in Odessa, Texas, from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. Services will be held Friday, August 1st, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa, with graveside services at 12:00 p.m., in Monahans, Texas.

He was born March 1, 1927, to Lawrence and Dora Reynolds in Hickory County, Oklahoma.

A longtime resident of Wickett, Burl started his career with Gulf Oil Company, as a roustabout. Through his hard work and dedication, he moved up the ranks. He transferred to Eunice, NM, as a production superintendent. After retiring from Gulf, he formed his own consulting company, where one of his clients remembers we brought in a bunch of great wells with his expertise and hard work.

Burl hung up his hard hat in 1988, and fell in love with the sport of golf, in which he became quite proficient. Once they moved to Odessa to be near family in 1994, he continued his hobby on the courses in Crane and Monahans, and was very proud to have made two holesinone.

Burl was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Loretta, and his daughter, Lynn Reynolds Conrad.

He was survived by his children, Sherrie Purser and husband Bob of Midland Pam Schmidt of Odessa Zane Reynolds and wife Duyen of Sugar Land and Jane McGill and husband Keith of Odessa grandchildren, Eric Wilson of Albany, Lanson Weeks and wife Danielle of North Beach, Maryland Cindy Legendre and John Ed of Midland Shelley Schmidt and Bobby Scott of Austin Max Reynolds and Mary Reynolds of Sugar Land Haley Henry and husband Nathan of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Matt McGill of Odessa. He also leaves behind six greatgrandchildren, Chelsea Legendre, Tyson Legendre, Kaytelin Weeks, Gabriella Weeks, Landon Henry, and Anniston Henry. He leaves many cousins, nephews and nieces, as well. Burl also leaves behind his beloved Sassy, a little white dog with a big heart, who brightened his life and never left his side.

We would like to thank Hospice of Midland, as well as all the girls at Emeritus at Sherwood Place, Orchard Park, and Buena Vida who loved and cared for him like a dad.
