Calvin Poindexter, Sr.

Calvin James Poindexter, Sr., loving husband, father and Poppy, age 55, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 in Midland.

He was born October 4, 1955 in Long Beach, California to Raymond Poindexter and Lois Casey Poindexter. He married Dorothy Allison on January 24th, 1976. He was known as Poppy to his grandchildren. He worked as a welder in Odessa.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Raymond and Lois Poindexter sister, Jackie Poindexter brothers, Kenny and Ray Poindexter and his sisterinlaw, Beverly Allison.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Poindexter of Odessa children, Calvin Poindexter, Jr. and wife Katrina of Odessa and Terri Adams and husband Scott of Forney, Texas grandchildren, Alyson Poindexter and Jacob Adams, both of Forney, Caleb Poindexter and Amanda Adams, both of Odessa brother, Eugene and wife Gay Poindexter of Odessa sister, Marilyn and husband Lonnie Henderson of Odessa motherinlaw, Darlene Allison of Odessa brothersinlaw, Ray and wife Lisa Allison and James Allison, both of Sterling City and sisterinlaw, Sandra and husband Mike Bowen of St. Joe, Texas several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Roger Brandt of Rhome, Texas.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Sterling City with Rev. Donald Bailey officiating.

Pallbearers will be Randy Parrish, Benny Allison, Michael Bowen, Chris Marrero, Steven Marrero, Jonathan Gaule, Tyler Allison and Luis Rivera. Honorary Pallbearers are Roger Brandt, Brandon Poindexter and Tyson Allison.
