Carl Peek, Sr.

Carl David Peek, Sr. 81 of Midland, TX died Friday afternoon, July 18, 2008 at Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Porterfield officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Peek was born June 23, 1927 in Fox, Oklahoma to Floyd and Allie Winters Peek. He was reared and educated in southwest Oklahoma. He entered the US Navy at the age of 17 and served in the south Pacific during World War II. After his discharge he entered college and earned a degree as a mechanical engineer. He worked for Shell Oil Company for over 40 years in numerous communities across the United States prior to coming to Midland in the early 1970s. He retired in the mid 1980s and continued to work for a short time, and then retired to enjoy his retirement years of traveling and wood working. He married Esther Fern House and she died in the early 1980s. He later met and married Irma Dean Woody in Midland in 1987.

Preceded in death by Esther and his son Carl David Peek, Jr. and sister Mary Best.

He is survived by his son; Bob Peek and wife Evelyn of Lubbock, TX. Grandchildren; Bobby Peek, Floyd Peek, Patrick Peek, Robyn Peek, Stephanie Flores, Jessica Peek, Jenny Peek, and Chuck Peek; Step-children James Kenneth Woody and Rhonda Shaun Holloway, step-grandchild Jonathan Shelby Holloway; Four great-great grandchildren. Brothers Truman Peek of Oklahoma and Floyd Peek of Nevada, sister Rose Pemrod of California.
