Carl Douglas Washington, age 65, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 in Odessa.
Carl was the youngest son of C.D. and Willie B. Washington. He was born June 23, 1947 in Anson, Texas. He attended and graduated from Carver High School of Midland, Texas. Carl married Novetta Johnson on December 19, 1968 in Marlin, Texas. He graduated from Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas in 1969 with a degree in math and biology. He earned his Masters Degree in math from Texas Tech University. Carl worked as a math teacher in Beaumont, Houston, and Odessa, Texas for a total of thirtysix years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the United States Army.
Carls parents preceded him in death.
Carl is survived by his wife of fortyfour years, Novetta Washington of Odessa his daughter, Mishun Washington Tulloch of Moreno Valley, California brother, Earnest Washington Joan of Dallas. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, greatnephews, greatnieces and other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Carl Harvey of Turning Point Bible Fellowship, Austin, Texas officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be John Kendrick, Edward Mackey, Roman Harper, Jimmy Miller, Ray Huggins, David Jackson, Nathan Williams, Earnest Trey Washington and William M. Merritt, III. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the West Texas Amateur Golf Association, JaQuaylon Merritt, Willie O. Nweke, Arthur Nweke, Sr., Arthur Nweke, Jr., Shawn Nweke and Louis Bowman.
