Carlos Soria

Carlos Garcia Soria, age 72, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Odessa, Texas.

He was born December 4, 1938 in Harlingen, Texas to Carlos Soria and Hortencia Garcia Soria. He lived in Lovington, New Mexico for over 40 years, where he worked in the oil industry and also in the dairy industry. He was faithful to the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Lovington. He was a very loving, gracious, giving, strong father, grandpa, brother and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Enrique Soria.

Survivors include his brothers, Jose Soria of San Marcos, Texas, Julian Garcia of Tulare, California sisters, Diamantina Holguin of Tulare, California and Grace Quiroz of Roswell, New Mexico children Carlos Soria, Jr. of Galveston, Texas, Daniel L. Soria of Salt Lake City, Utah, Javier C. Soria and wife Krista of Alexandria, Virginia, Angelica Calderon and husband Marcus of Moore, Oklahoma Gabriel H. Soria and wife Cassandre of Odessa, Texas, Jaime E. Soria of Fresno, California and grandchildren, Dominic and Danica Soria of Texas, Kristin and Bradan Soria of California, Savanah, Isabelle, Ariana, and Sean Calderon of Oklahoma and Cerissa and Phillip Soria of Texas.

Visitation with the family will be at 56:30 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Stevens Funeral Home in Lovington, New Mexico. Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 3, 2011 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Lovington, New Mexico.

Pallbearers will be Daniel L. Soria, Javier C. Soria, Gabriel H. Soria, Jaime E. Soria, Marcus Calderon and Carlos Aranda. Honorary pallbearers will be Jose Soria, Julian Garcia, Carlos Soria, Jr., Abel Garcia and Adolph Garcia.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Lovington, New Mexico. Local arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Funeral Home.
