Carol Louise Kreidel Nelle, age 85, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 14, with her devoted husband of 64 years at her side.
A service will be held at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, with a graveside service following with Kimberly Stinson, Pastor of Highland United Methodist Church, officiating.
Carol was born in Floresville, Texas to Leon and Louise Kreidel on August 3, 1936. She also lived in Bishop, Kingsville, Fort Stockton and Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas. She married Fred Nelle on November 2, 1957, at University United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. While in Fort Stockton, Carol was active in Eastern Stars and 4-H. In 1950, she had the Grand Champion Steer in the Pecos County Livestock Show. She and Fred moved to Odessa in 1959 where she worked in children’s social services for several years and at home raising two sons. She was a longtime member at Highland United Methodist Church and was involved with her Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. She helped deliver Meals on Wheels and was active in the water exercise class at the Odessa YMCA. She also loved camping in the Fort Davis and Big Bend areas.
Carol is survived by her husband, Fred Nelle of Odessa, Texas, and her children: Greg Nelle, and his wife, Linda of Round Rock, Texas, and Ross Nelle and his wife, Shawna of Flower Mound, Texas. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Garrett Nelle and his wife, Brianna of Taylor, Texas, and Reed Nelle of Round Rock, Texas; great-grandchild, Lucille Nelle; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces; and nephews; and wonderful friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Velma Kreidel, her brother, Morris Kreidel, and her sister-in-law, Frances Dempsey Kreidel Shannon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, 1808 N. Dixie Blvd., Odessa, Texas 79761 or to charity of choice.
