Carolyn Edwards

Carolyn Lee Simmons Edwards, 72, of Odessa, passed away on February 25, 2017 in Odessa, TX.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Jeff Cleere officiating.

Carolyn Lee Simmons Edwards was born in Hobbs, NM to Carl Alvin and Lillian Henrietta Simmons on August 20, 1944. Carolyn married Kenneth Wade Edwards on January 20, 1962 in Farmington, NM. She completed her GED and CNA certification. She worked in the school cafeteria at Burnet Elementary for many years as well as many of the nursing homes and was a caregiver to many. She also assisted with the Immanuel Baptist Mother Day out program. Carolyn was an incredible wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Her love for her family was her life. She was the rock, which this family was built upon. She touched so many lives with the compassion and love that flowed out of her like a river. She was an angel sent from God and used all of her time doing his work on this earth. She will be dearly missed by all.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Edwards, her brothers, Jerry Tubbs, Richard Tubbs, Carol Tubbs, her sisters, Doris Spoon, Pat Plumlee, Hazel Bettinger, and Murel Spoon.

Carolyn is survived by her two sons, Kenny Edwards and wife Sherrie, Kevin Edwards and wife Stacie; daughter, Kelly Edwards; grandchildren, Richie Edwards and wife Indira, Heather Pervecent Edwards, Cody Reed, Krystal Reed, Jamie Renee Edwards, Jessica Goodson; great grandchildren, Kaiden, Kyrsten, Zaniel, Rex, Ashlynn, and Andy; In-laws, Ollie Edwards and wife Betty, Billy Edwards, Lillie Stovall, Nancy Cole and husband Jack all of Gatesville, TX and many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.

In lieu of flowers family request donations to youth ministry at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Odessa.
