Carolyn Anne Ruiz-Canas

November 15, 1966 — November 27, 2024

Odessa

Carolyn Anne Canas (1966-2024) Her boundless kindness radiated through every chapter of her life, touching countless souls. From her earliest days as a young woman to her final moments, she approached each interaction with genuine warmth and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her generosity of spirit wasn't merely a trait—it was the very essence of who she was, shaped by both moments of joy and adversity throughout her journey.

Carolyn was born in Victorville, California in 1966 to Charlton and Anne Hines. Growing up her best friend was her sister Julie, who she loved deeply until the very end. Carolyn went to Parkway High School in Bossier City, Louisiana before moving to Texas and working at a truckstop, before moving to Odessa, Texas to work at HEB for 27 years.

Carolyn married Jose Ruiz, and they had a daughter in 2006. They had tried for years to have a child and when they found out that there was little chance of having one, they were devastated. When they found out they were pregnant with a daughter they were overjoyed and Carolyn made it her life mission to raise their daughter with extreme care and protection that only a mother can have.

Carolyn loved animals and considered herself a dog mom with her five pugs and one cat. She loved her furry kids as much as she loved her daughter and always took care of them.

Carolyn was passionate about her job and loved being a gas station attendant for HEB working for them for 27 years up until she had fallen ill.

Carolyn is preceded in death by David Jose Ruiz, Jose Ruiz, Charlton Hines, Anne Hines,

Carolyn will be survived and celebrated by Alejandra “Lexi” Ruiz (daughter), Javier Canas (spouse), Julie Baldwin (sister) Vikki Rountree (sister), Tony Hines (brother), and her numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.
