Carrol Jean Cornett, 75, of Odessa, Texas went to be with her Lord Savior Monday, May 20, 2013 in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will be at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sunset chapel, with Clydel Chapman officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Carrol was born in Lamesa, Texas to Archie Imogene Gillit on September 18, 1937. At the age of ten, Carrol accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Lamesa, Texas. Carrol was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. She attended Lamesa public schools. On November 30, 1956 she married the love of her life, Carl Braxton Cornett. Her passion was taking care of her family whom she loved dearly. She unselfishly cared for many loved ones throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Eddie Gillit and Willie Gillit.
Carrol is survived by her loving husband, Carl daughter, Donna Winkler and husband David, of Ballinger, Texas son, Jay Cornett and wife Tonya, of Odessa, Texas sister, Ernie Zimmerman and husband James, of Odessa identical twin sister, Edna Peters, of Lubbock, Texas grandchildren, Jason and Tina Winkler, Davy and Lori Winkler, Alison Winkler, Michael Butler, Cliff and Krystle Butler, and Chase Butler great grandchildren, Justin Winkler and Dave Weston Winkler and her puppy dog, Rascal.
Pallbearers will be Larry Myrick, Jack Geers, Walt Poynor, Randy McCollum, Jeremy Kimbrell, Matt Woolf, Chris Woolf and Rowdy Winkler.
