Catarina Lara

February 13, 1936 — March 9, 2018

Lucio and Catarina (Katy) age 82, of Odessa, TX, were greeted at the gates of Heaven by Jesus on the weekend of March 9, 2018. They left this world hand in hand.

Lucio was born March 4, 1936 in Pecos, TX to Faustino and Francisca Lara. He was employed by Roy Lindsey, and Jones Brothers for many enjoyable years before becoming a self- employed entrepreneur with Double LL Trucking. Lucio had a huge passion for music, his guitar always at hand ready to entertain his family and friends.

Catarina (Katy) was born February 13, 1936 in Toyah Vale, TX to Bonifacio and Julia Natividad. She was employed by Reeves County ISD and Ector County ISD as a bus driver for 55 years. Katy lived her life for her family and friends, she knew no strangers.
Katy and Lucio were devout, faithful Catholics and parishioners of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for 35 years. They followed the teachings of Jesus by helping any and every one as much and as often as they could.

They are preceded in death by their parents, twin infant sons, their son, Raul Lara, Sr. and 7 of their siblings, son in-law, Tony Delgado, granddaughter, Kassie, twin great grandsons, Mason and Ramon IV.

They are survived by the family members that they so dearly loved.

Lucio is survived by his brothers, Nasario V. Lara, Miguel V. Lara; twin sisters, Delma Lozano, Delia Florez.

Katy is survived by her brothers, Sgt. Pedro Natividad, Benito Natividad as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Katy and Lucio are survived by their children, Lori Varela and husband, Oscar, Carol Delgado and husband Tony, Louie Lara and partner, Jeff Terry of Ft. Worth, TX, Angie Pino and husband, Joe of Midland, TX, Belinda Lara and husband, Guadalupe Velasco; grandchildren, Melissa, Cyndi, Christina, Raul Jr., Jaime, Mark. Joe Ray, Jennifer, Kassie, TJ, John Paul, Joey, Matthew, Marissa and Vanessa; 26 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and Katy's beloved puppy dogs, Peewee and Toby.

Pallbearers for Lucio will be his nephews, Luis Lara, Carlos Lara, Junior Lara, Esteban Lara, Billy Lara, Miguel Lara, Jr., Tomas Lara and grandson, Aaron Alvarado.

Pallbearers for Katy will be her grandsons, TJ Delgado, John Paul Delgado, Matthew Pino, Joey Pino, Jaime Varela, Mark Varela, Joe Ray Varela, and Raul Lara, Jr.

Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Friday, March 16, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Juan Fernando Bonilla, MSP, officiant. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
