Charleen Scott

February 28, 1943 — November 19, 2018

Charleen ("Charle") Scott left her earthly body to enter Heaven on November 19, 2018.

Charle was the only child born to Gordon M. and Doris Irene Gaston on February 28, 1943 in Pampa, Texas. She spent her early years in the Texas Panhandle and Hooker, Oklahoma, where she loved living the life of a small town girl. At the semester break of her seventh grade year, she moved to Marlow, Oklahoma, where she met the love of her life and began the next half century of a beautiful life together.

In 1963, Charle married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Scott, and moved to Odessa, Texas, where she raised three beautiful daughters, Christi, Shayne, and Tracy. She was a long-time educator in Odessa and claimed professional learning as her passion for over forty years. Having begun in the secondary classroom, she spent the latter part of her public school career as the Director of Staff Development in Ector County ISD. After retirement, she became the Executive Director of the Texas Staff Development Council, a state affiliate of the national organization now called Leaning Forward. Traveling the state to offer professional learning to educators, her special fields included induction workshops for new teachers and mentors, leadership for school administrators, and all-level instructional coaching. Charle's most recent leadership role was as the Executive Director of West Texas Gifts of Hope, Inc., a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for cancer patients. Under her leadership, she and her husband Wayne were instrumental in the vision and building of Hope House Odessa, a home-away-from home for cancer patients.

Charle's motto was "the best way to learn is to teach", and her passion for teaching and learning was only surpassed by her devotion to family. She and Wayne were married for 53 years and leave behind a lasting legacy of what true love is. Together they built a family dynasty that was founded on deep abiding love, faith in Jesus Christ, and mutual respect.

Charle is survived by her daughters, Christi Brown and Shayne Adcock and husband Rodney Adcock. Her five grandchildren include Dr. Jordan Brown Beall and husband Taylor, Hayden and Madison Brown, Jay T. and Kye Adcock and wife Michelle and great grandson Kyesen, all of Odessa. Other surviving members of Charle's family are Uncle Walter of Clearwater, FL, sister-in-law Penny and husband Bob Hart of Southfork, CO, sister-in-law Bertalene Richardson of Marlow, OK, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and special longtime friends. Her husband Wayne and her daughter Tracy D'Anne Dickerson, together with her parents Gordon and Doris Gaston, welcomed Charle in a glorious reunion at the gates of Heaven.
