Charles Esteze Babb was born June 11, 1930 to Charles and Eva Babb. He grew up in Columbus, Kansas, and later moved to Holbert, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Emma Shorter, on July 2, 1949.
Mr. Babb was a hard worker. He worked for Kaiser Steel Corporation from 1951 to 1977 in Eagle Mountain, California where he operated a rotary drill until 1956, when a recovery from accident placed him in the position of heavy equipment operator. While in that position, he operated equipment such as a blade and a front end loader, and carried the title of cat skinner. He retired from Kaiser Steel in 1977 due to medical reasons. Mr. Babb has been a lifetime member of the Operating Engineers Union. After retirement, he and Louise remained in California for awhile. They later moved to Odessa to live near their oldest son, and were soon followed by their daughter Ann.
Mr. Babb was preceded in death by his father Charles, his mother Eva, and his daughter Ann and husband George Borunda, granddaughter Lynda Matthews and a brother Eddie of Parsons, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Emma Babb his sons Michael Babb and wife Becky of Mesa, Arizona, and Chuck Babb and wife Peggy of Midland, Texas eight grandchildren a number of greatgrandchildren sisters Suzanne Babb of California, Lois Duncan of Parsons, Kansas, Sara Martin of Columbus Kansas and his brothers Eddie Babb of Parsons, Kansas and Melvin Babb of Columbus, Georgia.
Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, January 11, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens where the family will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
