Charles Gee, Jr.

Charles E. "Eddy" Gee, Jr., sixty-eight, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, July 7, 2016 from 6-8pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, July 8, 2016, also at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Hood officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden immediately following the service.

Charles was born in Floydada, Texas to Charles E. Gee, Sr. and Bennie Jack Goodson-Gee on August 2, 1947. He graduated from Lubbock Monterrey High School in 1966. He married Alice Rhea Edwards on December 31, 1966 in Lubbock, Texas. He joined the Army shortly after and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the 11th Brigade, 23rd Infantry, Americal Division. After returning from Vietnam, he joined the Odessa Police Department and served ten years with the department. In 1977, he was elected Justice of the Peace for Precinct One in Ector County. He served as Justice of the Peace where he affectionately became known as "Judge Gee" during two separate terms, for a total of eight years before entering private business. He and his wife Alice owned and operated numerous businesses over the years before retiring in 2013. Some people knew him as Charles, some as "Eddy", some as "Judge", and some as "Judge Gee", but they all knew him as someone who never met a stranger and was always willing to help someone out.

Charles is preceded in death by his father Charles E. Gee Sr., mother Bennie Gee, sister, Phyllis Gee and sister, Billye Smith.

Charles is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Alice Gee, son, Chad Gee and his wife Stacey, daughter, Shannon Drexler and her husband James, his brother, Glenn Gee and wife Theresa, grandchildren, Caleigh and Colby Gee, and Baylie and Alyson Drexler.

Pallbearers will be Chad Gee, James Drexler, Jerry Webb, Robert Dunston, Tony Crowder, Bruce Dew, Craig Popejoy and Colby Gee.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Glenn Gee, Michael Smith, Eugene Rush and C.A. Popejoy.
