Charles “Lee” Minyard, 57, passed away on April 1, 2023, in Odessa after a long battle with cancer. Lee was a kind, friendly, salt-of-the earth man, who put his family and God before all others. He made many friends and no enemies and was a firm believer that hard work and respect could get you far in life. He was never shy to offer a helping hand to any stranger who needed it. He was quick to crack a joke at a moment's notice and would always be eager to brag to you about his loving family. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Bernardito.
Lee was born on August 16, 1965, to Kenneth and Shirley Minyard in Santa Anna, TX. He had two siblings, Lisa and David. He graduated from Snyder High. He joined the Marine Corps after High School where he served during Operation Desert Shield.
In 1994, Lee married Maribelle Vigil in Odessa, TX. They were married for 29 loving years. They had one son, Zachary Vigil-Minyard.
Lee worked route sales for Frito Lay for over 20 years before retiring in 2022. He served on the St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish Council and St. Mary’s Catholic School Board for several years. He was a valued member of the parish and helped with the remodeling of the church in 2022.
Lee enjoyed going to the movies with his son, spending time with family at social events, dancing to tejano music with his wife, taking long deserved naps with his beloved dog, watching the Longhorns football games on the weekends, and staying busy with projects around the house.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Keneth and Shirley Minyard.
Lee is survived by his wife Maribelle, son Zachary, daughter Ashton Williams, son Aharon Minyard and his spouse Hayley, siblings Lisa Smith and David Minyard, grandchildren Nick, Andrew, Beckham and Blair, and furry companion Zelda.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, support, and copious amounts of food and love offered to them during this trying time. Their kindness in this difficult moment will not be forgotten.
