Charles Mitchell

January 17, 1926 — December 1, 2016

Charles Mitchell passed from this world on December 1, 2016 at 10:45pm in Odessa Medical Center to be with his beloved wife, Rose, and his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Graveside service was held on Sunday December 4, 2016 at Bluff Creek Cemetery in Drasco, TX area.

Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Pecos, TX at 2:00 pm on December 6, 2016. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Charles was born on January 17, 1926 in Drasco, Texas. He attended school in Bradshaw and joined the Navy Aviator Program in March 1944. Charles attended Tarleton State University and graduated from Texas Tech in May 1949. Charles married the love of his life, Rose McCain, on November 26, 1947.

Rose preceded him death on October 20, 2013. Rose and Charles were married for 66 years and were truly soulmates. Charles and Rose lived in Crosbyton, Texas; Albuquerque, NM; and El Paso, Texas. Charles worked for Price's Milk, in the dairy business. In October 1955, Charles and Rose moved to Pecos, Texas to start a dairy business in partnership with Paul Davidson. Charles had many struggles in the dairy business but had a love for cows and was truly a "Cow Man". His son Greg joined him 1979 in the family dairy business until August 2012 when they decided to sell the herd and pursue other interests.

Charles served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church Pecos, served on the PBT-ISD School Board for 12 years and was a Rotarian.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Sharon Mitchell; granddaughter, Salem Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
