Charles Stewart Smith Sr., 71, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on April 28, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel, Odessa, Texas. Burial will follow after the services.
Charles Smith was born in DeQueen, Arkansas to Robert and Marie Smith on September 30, 1942. He went to school at Galena Park High School, Galena Park, Texas.
Charles worked for The Huffman Company, here in Odessa for nearly 30 years as the shop foreman. He retired in 2006. Charles loved to fish and spent many a weekend fishing with his son. One of his favorite past times was watching football with his son and grandson, Charles Smith III. Charles was a man of his word and lived his life with a handshake.
Charles Smith is preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Westbrook Smith, and his daughter, Charlene Jordan.
Charles and Faye Westbrook Smith, the love of his life, were together for 36 years before she went home to be with our Lord. Charles is survived by one son Charles Stewart Smith, Jr. of Odessa, Texas, two daughters Carrie Lynn Smith of Odessa, Texas and Shelly Lee and husband Larry Villarreal of LaPorte, Texas. Charles also had four step daughters Bille Dean and husband Jack of Odessa, Texas, Patricia Rhoads and husband Glen of Odessa, Texas, Mary Shaw of Odessa, Texas and Rose Wooten and husband James of Odessa, Texas. He also had several grandchildren and one great grandchild along with many special friends.
Pallbearers are Charles Smith III, Robert Scott, Dewayne Hiser, Greg Stephens, Gerardo Chavarria and Dan Huffman.
The family of Charles wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Naidu who was his physician for over 35 years and a special thank you to Dee Pritschow. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dan Huffman for sharing his adventures with Dad and giving us memories we can take with us forever.
